Ah, memories! I spent a week staying in Manly Beach, Manly Village once upon an eon ago (2001ish) while I was in Sydney for a business conference. I loved the place, loved the ferry ride over to the Opera House: great folks, beautiful surroundings ... I wonder if I'll get back there in this lifetime?!!

I've been meaning to ask, but on my own trips to Japan, it seemed that sunglasses weren't very popular: Wondering if they are too associated with gangsters?

Jeff, I'm not aware of any association with gangsters. Lots of people wear them but they're nowhere near as popular as they are in the USA.

I wear sunglasses because I value my eyes. The "transitions" in my normal glasses don't work when I'm driving a car because automotive glass filters out most of the UV that triggers the darkening.
