Digital Black and White.

Experimenting with extreme contrast. Out of seven shots, these two were the best, but I’m not sure if I completely like them. But it’s fun to experiment occasionally. What do you think? The first is of a statue by Henry Moore, in the grounds of the Modern Art Gallery, Edinburgh. The second was taken along a riverbank, also in Edinburgh. Monochrom Typ 246, Voigtlander 75mm f1.5.

I like the second one, which has a very graphic quality. The Henry Moore photo composition is difficult to understand and for me does not work.

Thanks for the comment, Zuiko. Yes, the second is my favourite. I get what you are saying about the Moore shot. It’s easy for me to understand because…I was there at the time 😉 but I do like the more animalistic quality of the limbs, which is not what Moore intended (as far as I can make out), and renders it less safe and comforting, which I also like. As mentioned, these were just experiments, but they’ve given me something to think about. Thanks again for your views. Rob
