Well, seems fair. I use film in my old Digital camera...

The digital film pack was tried 10 years ago, did not make it past prototype. Power was the issue back then. maybe someone will pull it off.

I wouldn't be supprised if it has already been done but someone bought it and put it on the shelf.

From the article:
Little do they know, how little they know...
Although it is pretty unlikely anybody still has their old analog camera sitting around,

The guy probably made the concept for a university assignment or the like, I wouldn't actually expect anything to come from it.

I hope so. I had high hopes for the 'e-film' when it started being discussed and was sorry to see it disappear.

Biggest problem with this design is the fixed distance between de `roll' and the `takeup spool', limiting the number of cameras it will fit...

I don't know if this is real or not, but I would sure like it to be.

It was real for a time, but then evaporated. I too wondered if some camera company had bought them out to quash it.

It was right up there with Duke Nukem Forever in the Wired vaporware awards. I think it was killed off by cheap digicams; once you could get a 5MP+ camera for $200, the mass camera market was going to switch from film. I do think they threw the baby out with the bathwater for SLRs and "serious" cameras; digital doesn't do it for me unless it's full frame, because there's not enough DOF control.

That was what I was told killed it too, but that was a long time ago -- maybe 10 or 20 years -- and I always filed it under "Believe it when I see it." It may also be that they couldn't get the megapixel count high enough. That and no chimping and the fact that it would probably have cost more than a whole low-end digital camera.

It's interesting that two of these fakes appeared at the same time. Is it film-death anxiety?

Leica nuts
Thinking about it the Leica M body is almost perfect for such a conversion. It's almost like the original designers had thought about this.
The rear door is easily removed and a fully self contained sensor with a display and the controls could be designed to fit in its place.
Look at an iPhone 4... It's about the right size and depth.
But nobody would develop such a product. There simply isn't enough of us M users to make it worth while.
Or think of it another way. How many could you sell? Maybe 5,000 units world wide??? Honestly, even that seems optimistic considering how much you can buy a second hand M8 for.
