Digital Nikon FM2 ?

If the rumours are true and it has a mirror and weighs over 700 grams it's hardly a foil for the new Sony!

this would be nice. Though I'm not 100% down with these "retro" SLR designs. I want me a boxy rangefinder looking FF camera with a sensible price tag!

Hasn't Nikon already made F-mount full frame cameras?
Perhaps it's the retro styling that makes the difference. Will it have a lever like the R-D1?

It's only a matter of time before Nikon makes a camera with a full frame sensor that isn't a DSLR. I hope they can do better than this projection!

Even with the update I'am still hopeful. We'll see. Hopefully they will have something at the PDN expo next week

Despite the rumored weight, I'd be very happy with a more compact (fm2) body and more traditional controls than the latest Nikon DSLRs. My preference would be for a reflex design.

Is this really "Nikon's answer" (OP's words, not mine or Nikon's)? Honestly, it's all just kind of...

...meh.

Only so if you've not been waiting for this camera many, MANY years like some of us. I spent many years with a Nikon F3 by my side. Then, for some reason, Nikon DSLR designers decided that all DSLRs had to be configured like the workhorse F4. Ever since, they've stuck with that design, even for entry level DSLRs. I for one have always hated the big bulging plastic look of modern DLSRs and the out-of-reach price tags of full-frame models. Now we might finally (after waiting 15 years!) get something more akin to the F2 or F3 at a somewhat reasonable price. D**n right I'm happy!! 🙂

Just hours ago I was fiddling around with my Nikon F3, and wishing for a digital version to be released with its size and hopefully better grip.
Still, I cannot imagine the weight of modern AF lenses on such a small body would be appreciated by most people's wrists ... well ... only if they hold it one-handed.

I think it is a good move, smaller FF that is similar to a FM2 in size,
No reason why FF DSLRs have to be so large.
Add a Grip for more battery life when needed,

an updated rumor says that the D4 sensor will live in this.

as an owner of an FE, this will be lighter (Plastic Vs Medal)

But for those of us that love fiddling around with our old manual focus Nikkors.... 😛
