I have two S2's I really don't want to sell -- but, I'm having a heck of a time focusing with them because I don't have a diopter correction eyepiece to aid with focusing. I have +1.0 eyepieces on all of my Leica M's - and can focus just fine (without the eyepiece it's tough to focus accurately).
I've researched via Google - and have found very old threads discussing diopter correction eyepieces for S2's, but have yet to actually see or find one.
I've gone as far as contacting Dirk at Japan Exposures to kick around the idea of having someone make adjustable eyepieces for the S2. He has something similar for Leica M's. I use the 1.15 and like it well enough and would be happy to have one for my S2.
Question - does anyone have one of the original correction eyepieces? If so, could you post a photo of it. I'm not sure how it actually attaches to the S2. The S2 does not have a threaded viewfinder (neither one of mine do) - so I'm curious.
One other question - is anyone else in the same boat - looking for a correction eyepiece for their Nikon RF's?
Thanks much for any and all information!

Bob, Photo Kiitos (a camera repair shop specialising in Nikon) is just down the road from my office. If anyone in Tokyo has diopters for a Nikon S2 it'll be these guys. There's really only a slim chance they'll have them but I'll drop by at lunch and ask for you.

Well-known
Bob,
You may want to call Igor @ Igor Cameras in Cleveland. He usually has a good supply of used Nikon RF's and is pretty knowledgeable about the camera. Just don't email him as I never get an answer. Phone .

Nikkor. What else?
The only place I've seen them for sale is here:
http://www.kevincameras.com/
Click on "Nikon RF", then the album "Nikon RF Misc". You will see the diopter as the 9th item listed. I've enquired about them some time ago, if my memory doesn't betray me they were something like 400 USD.
I wonder why no after market ones are available. If a cheaper alternative could be traced or manufactured, I'd like one (or two).

Thanks everyone for the input -- I see Kevin has several - not sure what he's asking for them. Of course, he has a +1.5 -- but I need a +1.
Dirk and I kicked around some ideas and I like his idea of coming up with an adapter which would allow you to use your Leica eyepiece -- or whatever else you may use. That would make the most sense and give lots of flexibility. There would need to be 25-30 people interested to make the whole thing feasible -- we'd want to make the adapter affordable to attract more buyers, too...
Jon -- thanks -- let me know what you find out! I miss using my S2 -- I can shoot with it if I wear reading glasses over my contacts -- but it's a pain...
