Diopter eyepieces for R-D1?

Speaking of eyepiece accessories, has anyone heard of anything about alternate diopter eyepieces for the R-D1?

The standard eyepiece unscrews easily, so I guessing Cosina intended them to be interchangeable. If it's the same size as the Bessa R3a, I would assume that eyepieces for the Bessa would fit... but I don't know if anyone's offering them for the Bessa either.

I've also noticed similar large, round eyepieces on some Nikon SLRs, and wondered if there were a slight chance they'd interchange. Anyone here with an R-D and/or a Bessa R3a AND a late-model Nikon who can check? Thanks...

The R3A takes the round diopters that are used for several Nikon cameras including the Nikon FM3A. The R2's used the rectangular Nikon diopters made for several Nikon cameras. Good luck on finding one. B&H has them and I ordered one for my R3A but it was lost in the mail and that was the last one they had in stock of the one I need. I have since found one on ebay and am waiting for it to arrive. If the eyepiece on the RD-1 is round I would assume that it is the same type of eyepiece used on the R3A

Yes the diopters for Nikon work.

The one I got my hands on from B&H was a + 0.5 and the markings on the box are: FA; FE2; FM2; FE; & FM

I also have a +1.0 on back order from B&H to see if it is better, and to assure I can use the camera if my eyes get worse later.

The Epson manual has zero info on this, and some dealers are confused as to which diopter works. At first, I was sent the wrong ones based on information from Calumet where I had bought my camera. But the one from B&H is correct. Sammy's Camera also has the correct diopters.

Hmm, just noticed the designation under my name as a "rangefinder wanabe". Curious designation since I've used a Leica M for 30 years. What's that all about? (';)')

Hi-- That's editable, so when you figure out how to change it and add an "avatar" personal thumbnail photo there too, you'll be a seasoned veteran in RFF! Hint: Head for the User CP button...

fotografz,

I had the same kind of reaction intially but now I just ignore it. I'll save you some time and tell you that one seems to be stuck with these cute little titles until he or she reaches a certain number of posts and then can change the title. You and I have not made enough posts to shake our monikers. We are not yet allowed to change these titles in the CP settings and so must bear them with a smile. <G>

Cheers,

Sean
