I've a small collection of brochures and instruction manuals for the pre-war Leicas but have only ever seen the manual/directions for the IIIa and a supplement to it for the Standard model. And looking on ebay that's all I ever see.

So I just have to ask if the model II came with a set of IIIa directions, or what?

Thanks Art. I've just had a look there and remembered Joe Chan's website and looked there as well but in both cases there seems to be a gap in the publications.

There's one for 1928 and the IIIa; on other words the early "hockey stick" camera is covered and the later IIIa of 1935 but the models I, II and III just don't seem to be covered ('31, '32 and '33 from memory).

I guess I'm worrying for nothing but it would be nice to have an original booklet covering the model II to go with my model II and not one showing the slow speed dial etc of the IIIa. Obviously for display as the idea is to have the II, lens and literature matching as though I acquired them in (say) 1935 and have kept and used them ever since...

I better go on dreaming. Thanks again.

The manual for the Zorki 1 will explain function, but no picture in it will include the magic name although appearance is nearly identical.

Many thanks; that's an interesting line of enquiry and (edit) I now remember I've a Zorki 1 manual somewhere in the heap of stuff to be sorted and dumped or sold.

At the moment my problem is that I've too many cameras and want to have just a few that are used regularly instead of nearly a gross that have to be dusted and sometimes used. I thought the Leica II and an early FED would make a good pair (to display and use) and so am looking for the original manual for the II but only IIIa's and Standard's seem to be available.

Have you a link for Zorki 1 manuals, BTW?

Thanks again for your help. Regards, David
