First of all let me say hello to all of you. I have been a long time reader and have learned so much about the Epson R-D1 here at RFF. In fact, what I read and saw here made me buy an R-D1 that I received today.

I have been shooting with my Leica M6 for a long time now. For some time I even had an M8 but eventually sold it (for a very good price). I just could not settle with the white balance that just wouldn't get it right and, even worse, it produced a huge amount of noise, rendering it unusable at anything higher than ISO 400. So, it's your fault that I am back to digital rangefinder photography. And I am really excited.

It only took me a couple of hours to feel familiar with the R-D1's user interface. It really is far better than Leica's and even the latter is a joy to use.

But now to my question. Is there a way to disable the exposure lock button? I am talking about this small button right behind the exposure and ISO dial. When I am shooting in auto exposure mode I would like to override the R-D1's suggestion at certain times. With the exposure button I have to take the camera from the eye first to do that. It's not really a big problem but I am just curious if one of the R-D1 experts around here might have good advice.

Thanks and regards from Germany!

@mwooten: Thanks for the link! What a great site!

It looks as if removing the top plate to do this slight modification is worth the hassle. But I'll probably postpone that to a cozy winter afternoon. I mean, where is the point in destroying my R-D1 the first day. ;-)
