I find the colors coming out of the RX100 to be pretty disappointing when set on standard saturation and fine quality jpg. However, some of the images in the RX100 picture thread look pretty good to my eye. Not sure if it's because of PP or some camera setting I have not explored yet.

Other than staring from RAW and developing my own images, are there any tips on how to get the best OOC color jpgs from the RX100? I did not have this issue with my older Fuji P&S, which produced lovely colors in both standard and vivid (Velvia simulation) modes.

Have you experimented with the in-camera JPG saturation and contrast settings yet?

Second that. In a different context (Nikon), changing the setting from neutral or portrait to vivid produces very different results.

Also, make sure some less visible setting isn't affecting things.

Don't know about the RX100, but my Panasonic LX3 has a way more color and "film-style" adjustments than you can imagine. Of course, white balance is another issue.

So, I would experiment a lot more with the RX100 options until you find the settings you like.

Good point... I feel the overall look I get is cool/grey. Maybe I messed with the WB and color temp settings. I'll take a closer look.

i keep my settings on standard and have been shooting only jpegs...i like the colours so far...

Interesting to hear you say that, because to me the R-D1 colors are the gold standard, and no one is more versed in them than you!

Perhaps it's the quality of the light as we turn to Autumn in the northern hemisphere.
