Just browsed this old thread that came back to life. FWIW, I recently bought a 5cm elmar that had the front element replaced and inner element re-coated by Kanto. The lens is in beautiful shape now. You can see a little bit about their specialty service here. The MFT description says it all: 'We were taught at Leica service training that a lens repaired without MTF measuring instrument was not Leica lens any more'
