disassembly elmarit 28 v3 (E49)

the plastic (probably replacement) focus tab on my elmarit 28 v3 has finally split fully in two and come off the lens. It was held by a small screw in the center, and there are two notably empty and unused threaded holes flanking that that must've been used to hold the original tab. Problem is, the central screw has now fallen into the lens body and can be heard skittering around in there (ugh). Can I get at it via a DIY approach? I have the appropriate screwdrivers. Or send to an expert? Any hints? many thanks!

I have that lens. The tab in the focusing ring was partly gone, and Sherry Krauter replaced it for a (then) very reasonable sum. I recommend that you contact her, let her know that you'll send the lens to her, and then do so and wait. She's quick at fixing things.
