Once again, I've been screwed by an FSU eBay seller, this time over a "mint" I-61 L/D. The description: "Works properly. Glass is clear. No scratches, no dust or fungus. Focusing and stopping are smooth." The truth: dust inside on every element, focus ring is rough, whole lens clatters, no infinity focus even with shims, close focus is eight inches off, rusted and stripped screws, etc. Don't buy from the seller grizzly33bear, he is simply a liar.

Anyway, I asked for a full refund, including shipping, but I assume I'll never hear from him again. Maybe this is time to try cleaning a lens myself. I googled, but couldn't find any DIY CLA instructions for this lens...any tips?

seller grizzly33bear is operated by a woman and she is really bamboozling her customers at full tap lately.

at one time she did give decent service years ago.

I've bought one good lens off of ebay ... a really nice LTM J-11. These days I use fedka.com for all things FSU ... most recently a beautiful I-61 Panda. Exactly as advertised, and Yuri will work to make sure you're happy with your purchase.

My first FSU eBay purchase was an absolutely perfect J9...maybe that's why I keep coming back for more. Anyway, I agree, Yuri is the way to go.

Mabelsound,
E-bay is always a crap shoot, I got a Canonet 28 and the buyer
forgot to mention that the meter did not work. The camera was
clean w/no dents or scratches, put in new battery but no meter
function. For what I paid shouldn't complain ( although that's what
I'm doing)but we always hope the seller would include all the details.

Yuri is straightforward, responsive, and a gentleman—a pleasure to deal with. If an unforeseen problem arises, he will address the issue.

Update, Zhanna (that's her name) wrote back and apologized, saying that she would never do this etc etc, and she had gotten a friend to do her packing for her, and the friend must have screwed up. Anyway, I suggested we just swap this lens for a good one...
