I've made a dirt cheap pin-hole lens from an unused camera cap.

Tested on my old Canon.

The aperture is about f/90, need a flash to get enough light, or a tripod and "Bulb" to get enough exposure.

It seems the shape of the hole affects the vignetting of the picture. It is not easy to make a perfect circle by punching a needle on an aluminum foil.

Luckily all materials are very cheap. 😱
 
I was doing the same thing with a pin and then invested in some tiny drill bits and a pin vice. I use alluminum can material and cut super clean holes into that for better image quality and cleaner holes.

But to me, the hand punched ones just have a feel to them, "I did that, with a pin and some foil" means a lot more in the grand scheme to me 😀
