Do avatars work?

I notice, that many accounts don't have an avatar anymore, that used to have one. I can see my avatar on my profile page, but not besides my posts.
Is there something, I need to do, to make it work again?

You have to reload it.. go to My Profile found on the upper right of your page and go to edit avatar and reload it in....now it only accepts a tiny 125 x125 image so even it was tiny before it will crop the small image to more ridiculous tiny or mis-aligned dimensions than before. It screwed up my original avatar.
 
Does everyone have their pre-existing avatar showing up on their profile page? Mine is there but nowhere else. If everyone’s is there on their profile page, that would mean it’s already loaded on the site, somewhere, and maybe all the avatars will eventually show back up where they belong, if we wait till it gets sorted out. Maybe. First few days of the new site mine was occasionally showing up in threads, then it disappeared, so seems like they all could be brought back. Maybe.
 
That’s weird. It just showed up here in the avatar thread, without my reloading it, or doing anything at all. Maybe you just need to talk about it a bit so it feels wanted.
 
Mine came back, I don't recall doing anything for it to return...I'm having problems posting photos...it says my files are too big...I'm doing it the exact same way as before...
 
After reloading mine it worked. I also had to resize it to 125x125 as noted when you hit the "Edit Avatar" button in your profile:
Note: The maximum size of your avatar image is 125 by 125. If your picture (or crop area) is larger, it will be resized to the allowed dimensions.
