Hi everyone,

It seems that my wife was right after all. There is absolutely no space in our wardrobe for more cameras so I went through a spring clean session.I decided to keep 2 SLRs (Zenit 12XP (present from parents in law), Canon EOS 5 (my first camera) , a Zeiss Ikoflex Ib for medium format, one compact (Fuji DL SuperMini) and two rangefinders (Leica IIc and FED-3). Two rangefinders have gone already (FED-4 and Ricoh 500G), three are on ePay right now (Nikon L35AF, Yashica T-3, Olympus μ-1) and two more will follow (Canon EOS 10 and Minolta 500si). And when the wardrobe started looking a bit more tidy I found a nice black, brand new, mint, never used Yashica MG-1 just for £25.

I know I don't really need one. It is not even Yashica's best model. But I feel like I should. So go on, inspire me with your pictures taken with your Yashica MG-1 and help me make the plunge.

I'll say it in your face - MG-1 should cost 2.50 to get it for "I feel like I should" reason. Consider also limited exposure control and potential replacement of POD (I don't own MG-1 but from RFF I have impression this model also needs POD to be replaced, occasionally). Honestly, Petri 7S is a better buy.

The only reason I found good enough to sell your toys is to buy more toys except of course if you hit financial difficulty or health problems and then some tough decisions might need to be made.
If they are junk and just taking up space then toss em or sell em on feebay if you could be arsed.
I have taken some personal favourites with my MG1 so it is a keeper inspite of its performance, Having said that I think it performs quite admirably against my other Electros. It's lighter in weight than the similar sized 35GT and it looks pretty smart. Perhaps I just have a good example.

BTW: If you decide to sell the Fuji supermini, I'll take back everything I just said and you can send me a PM. :)

Yes, the MG-1 is unfortunately equipped with a POD, and it too is prone to deterioration. :bang:
