Do menus ever get fixed?

The nex and the x100 have numerous good qualities but reviewers seem to agree that the software interface in each blows. Will Sony and fuji ever fix this or will they maintain what they have in order not to alienate the installed base?

Neither.

Assembly language programing runs most consumer devices. There is a huge disconnect between user experience and the people who write the firmware functional specifications.

I have no idea why camera firmware is so out of step with what photographers want and need. No matter what you may think of the iPhone, the cell phone industry had terrible firmware before Apple decided to change everything. Sooner or later somebody will make digital cameras with a GUI photographers can embrace.
