Heads up to those thinking of attaching a lens hood. Don't.
It screws onto the filter threads, but the filter threads are attached to the portion of the lens (optical block) that moves in and out when the camera focuses.
So if you by mistake knock the lens hood, it can ruin the lens' focus mechanism.

Yup. Same goes with UV filters with a thick rim.

Rumor has it Fuji is releasing an updated 27mm with an aperture ring - hopefully they'll make it internal focus too.

Thanks for the warning guys. I was considering the Squrehood, but couldn’t be bothered with an international purchase. Now, I’ll just let it go. I do use a Fujinon Protector filter to keep my figures off the front element. It’s just fine. I’ll not switch it out with any other, just to be safe. Again, thanks.

Solution to 27mm hood problem

Solution to 27mm hood problem

I got around this problem, in a heavy handed sort of way. I attached a step-up ring (reversed) to the face of the lens using Sugru Mouldable Glue (it can be peeled off if you don't like it). Then I glued a matching adapter ring to the inside of a square hood I had laying around. While screwing the hood onto the step-up ring, I made sure the hood was lined up correctly before letting the glue set up.
