Do photos mean as much anymore?

It was so much better in the old days, back then you knew that Alien or Three Head Goat Boy on the cover of the National Inquire was real and not something some one created in photoshop.
I heard they had a 'contact' at Groom Lake.Dreamland and Area 51 who fed them this stuff as it 'Came in '.
Now don't go and try and spoil this by telling me there all the same place.

We all know there in three different dimensions...............

"Do photos mean as much anymore? "

I was misled by your title. You meant do photos carry the imprint of truth today as they did years ago. As others have pointed out, image manipulation was part and parcel of photography from the beginning.

As to what I first though you meant — Do photos still have power in this age of over-saturated media? — I don't think they carry the same impact.
