Bought and sold a decent amount of stuff here in the last few months, and noticed some people do and some don't. Personally I don't delete because it should help buyers and sellers. Not to mention save all of us from having to make sense of other places like the big auction site.

If you answer "yes", would like to hear why. Not trying to flame anyone here - to each his/her own. 🙂

I delete my sold ads, to make room for others to display without falling off the page.
Maybe for clarity I should have added that there's two options (besides doing nothing):

1. "SOLD IT" function to make room for others only on the front page.

2. "Delete", which removes all history of the add from RFF - your "My ads" link, and the paged history of all ads.

I always make use of the "SOLD IT" function, but reading your comment and looking again at the paged history ads, I can see why you choose to delete your ads. Thanks for commenting!

One more thing to consider, which also happened to me recently. Had an ad I placed twice that expired (both times not sold, but the forum software marks expired ads as SOLD) a month or two prior. Someone contacted me about that ad and I ended up selling it that way. 🙂 Just to reiterate, everyone is different, and I don't care one way or another, but just am curious about what people think.

You can easily relist an ad that is mark as SOLD by selecting RELIST IT! in the user options for the ad (possible even when the forum software erroneously marks the ad as SOLD when it is uploaded). You can toggle between SOLD IT! and RELIST IT! as many times as you like until the forum software deletes the ad when it expires.

Thanks for that, had no idea. Will have to try it next time. 🙂 The classified section states:

"Paid ads are deleted automatically after 30 days."

But I can see both my ads marked as sold, and also an ad that I never marked as sold (expired after 30 days) as far back as middle November 2013. The November one is the one I placed twice with no luck, and then gave up. Then someone browsing the archives (maybe my old ad page?) contacted me in the last week of February and it sold. That surprised me and is one of the reasons for this poll.

Just took a look at your ad list. That is weird! The software is clearly not working as it's meant to 🙂

You've been here a lot longer than me, so I thought I was misunderstanding something or confused, which wouldn't be a first. 🙂

Sakura should be blooming over there in a few weeks...really miss that. 🙁 Not just the flowers, but the whole atmosphere.

Deleting ads seems like a bad Idea in the short term after the item is sold. Something could come up that the archived ad could resolve. Later it's fine to delete.
Marking it sold moves it off the listing page and into the "archive list". Should be good to go there until it drops away.

I mark my ads as sold but I dont delete them. I do this so buyers can have something to reference if they have any questions or if anything goes wrong.

The few times I've posted ads here I always marked it sold, let it sit for a week or so, and then deleted the thing. Why? Don't want to take up room, but also want others to learn that I sold what I was offering for sale. Since final prices don't show up in the ad, I don't see much in the way of helping others, except for showing that a particular item going for a certain price, did sell.
