I the odd ball out.![]()
Well pen and ink for me. The price of a good black ink is pretty stable. . .And a quart lasts a good long time. Odd ball? Not at all.

Arista Edu 100 looks promising, but it's $52 per 100'.
I am thinking of stocking up on it too. I wonder how it compares to HP5+.

Re: Arista, I believe its re-rolled Foma 100. I'm really loving it in medium format, EI80, Rodinal 1+50 (Bronica SQ-A + 80/2.8S if interested):
I've only shot one roll in 35 (rebadged as Kosmo Foto), box speed and Xtol 1+1 on a very overcast day without a contrast filter, (this time, Contax RTS + Planar 50/1.7) but I see a lot of promise depending on your subject--
Developing at home I haven't had much luck with HP5 but at one point, I used to shoot it fairly frequently and send it to a lab that ran it in replenished Xtol. This looks very similar to those results, albeit as a much slower emulsion. at around $4 a roll locally its a lot of fun to shoot and experiment with. Noticable but gentle grain; one of the few I've found gives me the look I want in Rodinal.
As for buying in bulk and storing:
I've thought of really stocking up on one or two emulsions, but half my freezer and the top shelf of my fridge is already full. I almost exclusively bulk roll 35mm and that's enough of a cost savings to me. I've noticed that both my local B&M and Freestyle sell single Kodak and Fuji rolls as broken-up pro packs, and just divide the cost straight through, which is a nice cost savings. For 120, I tend to buy 10 rolls at a time of any given stock and rotate through and that works for me.
