Do you follow Solea on Flickr?

Was any photographer in history ever this popular? Call it what you want aesthetically - it is a remarkable phenomenon.

I think flickr is the key. I don't judge her photos, thought anyone has to admit - flickr partially works also as social networking tool.

Imagine any photog from stone ages - one had to go to exhibitions, or at least buy magazines to look at his...oops, her work. To express opinion, one had to be lucky to get into conversation at exhibition, or send snail mail. Easy for average people? No.

How many emails receive artists, publishing their work on own websites? If site developers provide instant feedback form, it will be used more often than email link. You got idea? If communication is so easy as on flickr, it's pretty much different thing. One just have to fit certain segment and reveal visually and textually some private stuff - and people with similar mind pattern will come.
Nothing against womans, socializing, or whatever - this is my understanding of phenomena. Same is with male photographers, there's just another base under communications. Like specializing on some theme, or shooting style, etc.

I'm sorry, but that Soela girl is terrible.
She can't edit to save her life. They make me cringe they're so bad.

Honestly? A tornado?

The only thing worse are those guys who don't know how to do HDR.
Ahem.

Interesting tread , been wondering about these flickr girls, who only take photos of them selves . . some photos are great, some fine enough and lots of them boring.
But they are waay better than me on postprocessing.
Think i stumbled upon the Icelandic girl a year ago, like her work, think she is one of the better of the ones suggested this far, but then again taste is subjective.

Those streams are more like digital fantasy art rather than photography IMO. They're just a darker moodier version of b+w images with a single red rose. I like the streams of katie west and lydiannacat though, their work is much more authentic and refreshing.

I’m no photography critic, but my impression of her work is that she’s got a nice set of cans.

popular does not equal good. it looks like the typical over-the-top, post-processed, texture layered stuff that makes its way into explore every day.
