film is exciting
Ive got a flickr , link is in my signature. My stuff may not be particularly great but i am continually working to get better as i go.
I like it better than my old photo hosting site which was photobucket, ill have to look into the others that have been discussed though. I am not against paying for a quality hosting site

One minor annoying thing about flickr is that it seems so biased towards pictures that look good as tiny thumbnails or that have some sort of superficial wow factor.
Take a close up photo of a couple of strawberries, pump up the saturation and contrast and lo and behold that photo will get loads of comments and favorites, but if you stick to photos of the "real" world, that is, an attempt to depict something as it actually was - which is often much more difficult to achieve - many of those pictures will get largely ignored.
Mind you, there is some good photography out there on flickr, it's just sometimes hard to separate the wheat from the chafe.

I had a free pro account for a while. Uploads were REALLY slow and they blamed it on my ISP and computer. I upload everywhere else without a problem.
My wife was teaching a class at the local Jr, High and they had to upload to FLicker . They all moaned how slow it was.
Then they wanted money for my free account. I have not been back since.

I have one, but keep letting the pro version lapse since no one follows it.
Many more people will see my new photos when I post to FB.

One reason I like Flickr (although there is quite a bit not to like about it too) is that it attracts a lot of traffic. That means I do not have to worry about optimising my site for search engines - which I would need to do if I set up my own photo blog.
But what I have found with Flickr is that if you want a lot of people to visit your site and view / comment on your work, you must link your photos to various Groups on Flickr.
This is a way of "advertising" their presence to people who have an interest in that kind of photo. After all with what must by now be billions of photos on the site it is hard to find any specific person's photos if they dont make their presence known.
Its no big deal to do...when you upload new photos just search to find suitable groups that seem to be related to the types of photos you have loaded then join those groups and link relevant photos
Since I started doing this, over about the past 2 years I have had almost 7,000 hits on my photos, which is not bad although by no means huge given the number of people who use Flickr. Some people get many, many more views. Commenting on other people's work (and signing up other people as "contacts" also seems to attract people to rate yours in return. But I generally do not do much of that. I find I am happy just to put my photos in a few groups and leave it at that.
I have noticed, on this and other forums, that some people seem to object to this kind of approach as self promotion, but my attitude is that if you do not want to promote your work then do not put them on Flickr. Keep them on your PC and look at them yourself.
Personally I do not mind as it gets me feedback - which helps me learn and improve.

I have one, it's in my signature. I think I'm one of the few who've not upgraded to the "pro" subscription level, which limits me to 200 photos. That's fine with me, as I just rotate new stuff in and old stuff (without much interest) out. I don't understand why I would want thousands and thousands of photos up there, I mean, who would go through them all?
That being said, one of my flickr contacts has over 10,000 photos, but he shoots a lot of classica car and motorcycle races, so it's kind of like an online encyclopedia of vintage racing. He's a good shooter and his page is really interesting.
