Being a Zeiss fan and someone who cannot afford a lux, I would personally LOVE to see a 35/1.4 from Zeiss. One thing though, please make the filter size 46 please? I don't get why would Zeiss go with 43mm filters with their 35 and 50 in the first place, it's not much smaller and it requires you to carry another set of filters, annoying!
I would be happy if they would release the current Biogon and Planar in 46mm versions, that would make my life a lot simpler.

Long time coming! Expect it to be bigger and heavier than the 35 Summilux ASPH? Does this hint at faster lenses through the ZM line?

I don't need it.
I have a Biogon 2.0/35 and that is enough. If sometimes the 1.4 can save me, then I need a 1.0 in case the 1.4 is not enough.
The 2.0 Biogon is so good in terms of flare and distortion, the Distagon 1.4 can only be worse (except at 1.4

Well,
That would be their first lens designed exclusively for digital. Judging from their ZM line, as well as the fixed-lens SONY RX1 lens, it would be a killer lens, with high edge to edge sharpness and even plane of focus.
It would surely be a worthy contender for the Summilux 35 FLE. The only issue would be size: Leica lenses are usually the smallest one can possibly make by using special glass types, aspheric surfaces, etc
Let's wait a few more days.

I think a new 1,4/35 alternative will be nice. The other options are either the Nokton(s) or the Summilux. Will be interesting to see a) the size, and b) the IQ.
If nothing else, it will be a sweet lens for other formats (e.g. Fuji).

An entire year late to the party.
The ones who need it already got the Summilux.

look a bit long but half the weight of the nokton 1.2 so thats a welcome change! pricing might be real high though (2k~) so about the same as used 35 cron asph. if they price it a bit more than their 35 biogon 2.0 then its a sell out!

You're exaggerating just wee bit there
The new Zeiss 35/1.4 is 381 grams vs 470 grams for the Nokton 35/1.2 II

Too heavy and too big for a RF in my opinion. Preasph 35 summilux is the right lens aleays in my opinion.
