Do you think you have a GAS problem?

I go thru long periods where the desires far outpace the usage
How do you deal with that?
It is a motivator to get out and shoot....sure wish I could keep it more under control.

You know it's a problem when you have to reteach yourself every time
you want to use the self timer or you can't remember if the number in the view window is an exposed one or not.
Regards Peter

No GAS problem. I like cameras, I spend money, I go broke. When I go broke, I stop or sell cameras and buy more.

No problem.

🙂

No problem. I can stop any time I want. In fact, at the moment, I'm done. 🙂

Best post of the week Frank. 😀

I think you are actually the originator of the term 'I'm done' at RFF in regard to gas ... and we've all run with it at various times.

When I'm in the old folks home replaying my life I'll occasionally think about being 'done' and remember you ... then I'll think about camera bags and remember Joe! 😛

Speaking of gas I have a package waiting for me at our local post office ... hopefully I'll get there today. 🙂

With this little rangefinder heaven right around the corner, it's hard to say I'm done... 🙁

Lusting after that little Contax G2 he showed me. And those white boxes were all the new Leica arrivals...

It's a serious problem for me. But at least you get to try out different cameras and make a bit of cash along the way.

Well some of us do ... personally I always seem to manage to buy high and sell low!

And I'm sure I'm not the only one! 😀

Not really. There's very little new stuff that I want, and I either have, or have had, most of the older stuff that I want[ed] to try. Sometimes new lenses come out that are wonderful, and even the occasional new body (such as digi-Ms), but even then, my decision has to be based on whether I can afford them. Yes, I'd like a digi back for my Alpa, but I can't afford one. End of story.

Nowadays, I buy either alarmingly expensive new stuff that gives me better pictures (i.e. does things my current gear doesn't) or cheapie fun stuff where the ten or twenty euros is neither here nor there: the price of a bottle of whisk[e]y. I used to buy to sell but that's difficult nowadays.

Cheers,

R.

I can be impulsive so I need to have safeguards. I have a certain amount of money invested in camera gear. If I want to buy or try something new, that means I have to sell something else (or trade, whatever works) to raise the funds. When gear appreciates, it's a bonus since that's the only way the amount of spendable money increases. Too bad that doesn't happen often but in recent times, the various M mount lenses I have have appreciated in value, so that's cool.

Sorry, I meant to attach a poll but my computer went haywire.

I realized today that I have a GAS problem.

I started getting into photography a few months back and I'm constantly looking for new cameras to buy/try. From rangefinders to point-and-shoots; they are all so awesome.

If I really want to be afflicted with GAS, I open my "wanted" spreadsheet, have a look at the gear list, do some adjustments on the next top priority, do some notes on actual market prices, read twice again the usual reviews and opinions... Sighing I close the whish list and go out photographing.
I'm done! For now...
