I'm asking about the conversion wide angle and telephoto lenses for the Yashica GN. I just found a set of these lenses I must have hoarded away when I had some Yashica G series rangefinders. I no longer have those camera's but considering whether I may want to pick one up to use with these lenses. In case and excellent condition, and I recall the one lens limit on the GTNs and GSNs I had to be limiting and a reason for selling the cameras.
Any experience with these conversion lens from Yashica. Apparently part of a complete kit of G series 1.7 lens models.

My avatar was shot with a Leica M8, a Komura 28/3.5 LTM (55mm filter size) and a Yashica Wide Angle conversion lens with the rear element reversed. That created the funky sharpness fall-off.
Other than that: no I don't use them, and I sold both the Komura and the M8...

I've tried them a couple of times but they're really a nuissance in my opinion, having to focus using the rangefinder, then refocus according to the scale on the lens or on the manual; not to mention the fact that you cannot go upwards of f/4.

I got a set when I thought I might use them, but after reading about others experience, figured it wasn't worth the hassle. I'm keeping them as part of the outfit, though. Even came close one time to paying a rediculous amount for an MG-1 converters set with the box and papers. But I got over it. Even had a set for my Ricoh Five-One-Nine, but sold them to a gent in Victoria, BC. They are interesting work-arounds for something that should have been addressed differently, but then the price of Electros would have doubled with an interchangable lens capacity.

Thanks All.. Well I don't think I'll try to hunt up the last GTN I hid somewhere. If I find that camera, I will put it with the conversion lenses and put them in the next garage sale.
Appreciate those posts.

Kuzano, if you find the GTN and it works, then use it. Ditch the converter lenses; too awkward to use and the images will suffer.

I recently bought a garage-sale set (mainly for the viewfinder to try on my new mirrorless) that I haven't used yet. Years ago I had a similar auxiliary lens set with a Petri 2.8 CC Super. They were clumsy to use and detracted from IQ, and I remember one or both of them vignetted seriously. I may never get around to using these new ones with my Electros, but they do make a set, for what it's worth.
