Greetings,

I've been searching to see if Mr. Yau is still in the business of servicing Leica.

I can't find any current information of him here at RRF, or anywhere else for that matter. The last post mentioning him seems to be around 2010. I also noticed his name is no longer listed on Harry's Pro Shop.

Does anyone know if he's still around?

Thanks in advance,

Harry.

He's still doing some repairs (have to leave two lenses with him for work) but I understand he may be easing out of it. No idea if he's taking in new work or not.

Toronto or GTA shooters are blessed with a number of Leica repair techs. There's one tech I haven't used yet and don't know his/her name (closely held info) but from what I hear, he/she does very good work, on par with David and Gerry I'm told.

Basically he's looking to enjoy life now and travel.

Thank you for your reply newsgrunt,

I've used him for a CLA on my M4-P back in 2008, his work was top notch.

I'll send him an email to see if he can help me out. Perhaps he'll take pity on me. ;-)

Cheers,

Harry.

David Yau is a great Leica technician, and wouldn't charge you an arm and a leg like Gerry would. He is old, although he doesn't look a day older than 35. He is very well still in business of fixing Leicas. PM me if you need his contact information...

David still does great repairs. He just completely rebuilt a IIIF for me. At times David can be very busy and you might have to wait a wee bit. David is Solms trained in Germany, and of course worked for "Wild Leitz" in Toronto before Kindermann took over. A really great tech. Also, if he is away; call Jerry at Kindermann as he is a really great guy to talk over your needs as well.

David will most likely continue to work with clients who have used his services in the past but I heard he's not looking to take on new customers.

and he speaks fluent German ;)
