Does E60 Noctilux vignette with a filter?

I have a E60 noctilux (detachable hood). Can I use a 60mm 486 filter without causing (excess) vignetting? Would a slim 60mm 486 filter make a difference? Thanks.
 
I have an E58 and mine certainly vignettes with standard filters, as does the E60. Not sure about the slim filters though. I use a screw in hood so I do have yellow & red standard filters plus a ND.
 
im sure that someone can correct me if Im wrong, but vignetting is part of the noctilux magic... it read in books and other experts countless times that a summilux 1.4 is brighter than a noctilux 1.0, since although the notci is 1.0, is only in the center, as soon the circle enlarges through the edges it starts to loose stops as much as 1,5 to 2,0 stops; therefore the summilux with its constant 1.4 aperture is more brighter in fact.

Although could be perceived as a bad thing, its one of the characteristics that contribute to the uber gorgeous bokeh of the noctilux and its signature, its always mentioned as well.

Thats the noctilux - either you love it or you hate it.

So the filters may be not the culprit always, since the lens can vignete hard per se.

Take my advice with a grain of salt, just used one for a couple of hours ( enough to get me thinking until today )
 
I'm thinking about getting a B+W MRC UV filter for mine. I'm uncomfortable with no filter on the front of the lens.
 
You are correct, even a "naked" Noctilux has visible light fall-off in the corners @ f/1 & f/1.4. In my experience, adding a regular filter does not vignette or otherwise increase the light fall-off. I do a lot of nightlife shooting, so I normally keep a B+W MRC UV filter on my Noctilux to protect it from booze, sweat, etc. Still waiting on my free IR cut filter from Leica so that I can use it on my M8.

No additional vignetting with a single standard mount filter. Thin mounts are great but not really needed since you can't attach a snap-on cap.
 
even the new canon 50/1.2L has heavy light fall off, which I now counter with center filter from the zeiss distagon 15. is there a center filter in either E58 or E60?
