Does lens preference fall on personality-type lines?

I use a 28mm and I do in fact tend to intrude into peoples personal space, sometimes even of strangers.

I never made the connection though.

Interesting question.

I shoot mostly wide: 35, 24, but have no problem using any lenses I have: 21mm to 200mm range.

I've taken the Myers-Briggs test 3 times in the last 15 years, got 3 different answers each time. Although I think INTP is my closest match, I don't think personality is really relevant to lense choice as much as the kind of work you prefer and the requirements of getting the photo. Street/journalism vs. studio/still life photographer, are different temperments.

I've done both, but prefered something in between: set-up people shots, in studio or outdoors, have used almost everything from 16mm to 400mm to make the pics.

I happily don't photograph professionally anymore, my temperment likes food on the table and rent paid. ;-)

I have always enjoyed 50's and 90's -- 50mm for something on my side of the street and a 90 for something across the street. Seems to work just fine for me.

I always carried two bodies - 28mm and 105mm (Nikon F3) or 28mm and 90mm (Contax G2). The 28 around my neck and the 105 on my shoulder.

I'm now thrilled with a 16-85mm zoom (24-127 equiv. on Nikon D90), but I always keep it set at 16.

I don't mind "in-your-face", but usually prefer a wide view since it establishes "place most" effectively for me. 28mm always feels like a "natural" perspective for me in seeing a scene. 90mm/105mm was always some detail - recognizing a face across a room sort of thing.
