There's a very funny photograph in Philip Zeigler's biography of Lord Mountbatten, in which the Queen, M3 in hand, is attempting to remain civil whilst the latter explains in detail about his much better, ultra-modern camera. Examination reveals this to be a 110 compact. It is a situation perhaps not entirely unfamiliar to contemporary RF users 😀
Mountbatten was - so it seems - an incredibly bad photographer, although he naturally considered himself as an expert. Not like anyone we know, then! Tell me - was the cheap strat a Squier? If so- he should try a Fender Strat from Mexico. Straight out of Tiajuana and a good bargain.

Never seen a closeup of the headstock but when he moved into No. 10 it didn't even merit a case. Thus I'll assume it's not a treasured instrument.
