Does the Queen still use a Leica?

There's a very funny photograph in Philip Zeigler's biography of Lord Mountbatten, in which the Queen, M3 in hand, is attempting to remain civil whilst the latter explains in detail about his much better, ultra-modern camera. Examination reveals this to be a 110 compact. It is a situation perhaps not entirely unfamiliar to contemporary RF users 😀

Mountbatten was - so it seems - an incredibly bad photographer, although he naturally considered himself as an expert. Not like anyone we know, then! But Prince Philip is really very good, and has made interesting use of equipment - have a look here: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=003HR5&tag=

THIS would appear to be a picture of her M6 from the CRR, Luton website.

Neat photo- I'm assuming the URL belongs to The Provider of CLA's to Her Majesty's Leica's. I wonder if he can obtain knighthood for excellence in camera care?

Maybe we could convince Her Majesty to join the RFF? Could we give her 5 stars? 😉

I'll bet the PM shoots with digital P&S cameras.

Well he's always pictured playing a cheap stratocaster when he wants to look "rock'n'roll" so I don't see why his taste in cameras would be any better 🙂

Oh good grief, he does the "Rock N' Roll" thing too? We've had our share of those here. In both parties.

None of them seem capable of pulling off a good soulful riff.

Tell me - was the cheap strat a Squier? If so- he should try a Fender Strat from Mexico. Straight out of Tiajuana and a good bargain.

The correct term for a Mexican strat is "Naftacaster."

Shouldn't she be using a British camera?....

She also received a gold plated Ilford Advocate as a wedding present. She uses a Leica. I really have no more to say about this except that also on the CRR site you can also read about how our bold intelligence services stole Leica's manufacturing processes to help produce a British equivalent. The Reid was overpriced and never really got into full production. they occasionally turn up for sale at about 5 times the cost of a IIIc (which is what they copied IIRC).
