DOF in daylight

I'm wondering if it's possible. Since the GS is AV priority when I'm outside in full sunlight I always get the red overexposure indicator at anything under 5 or 6.

How do you guys handle this.

It depends on which film do you use. If you want a very reduced DOF in direct bright sunlight, it is keeping the lens full open or close to (f5.6 or lower), use an ND filter and readjust the ISO setting in accordance with filter factor. That´s because the meter cell is in the camera´s front, not within the lens ring and doesn´t compensate automatically for filter factors as some other cameras do (Canonet, Yashica MG1, etc.).
Never forget to readjust ISO setting after filter removal.

I bought an ND8 filter which equates to 2 2/3rd stops. Since my film ends up pushed nearly this much developing it, I can shoot tri-x 400 at 400 and still get good results.

Then again, at 400, I still have proclems with ever finding a situation in daylight where I can shoot at f1.7 😉

I'm thinking about trying iso50 film and using the ND8.
