I believe you fold up the base lock beneath the self timer and turn it a few degrees to point it to the red dot.

How's the weather down there in St Albans?

It's cold! But I like cold weather. I moved here four years ago and was very surprised to find that it has the East Anglian climate rather than the south eastern one. I work in central London and the weather is often totally different when I get home.

Even in July there's a cold wind in Verulamium that comes straight from Krasnogorsk ...

Incidentally I once saw an anguished post (in another forum) from a new Zorki 4 owner wishing to know where the batteries went and how did he turn on the light meter? Still working on that one ...

I use mine without batteries, but I have to wind it manually and the flash doesn't work.

A friend of mine once had a rent demand from his university, saying that his rent had increased by so much per anus. He had the presence of mind to write back politely thanking them for the letter and saying that he would continue to pay through the nose as usual.

Ever wonder why not many poeple take Latin any more? The correct word would be ANNUM. But watch it in Spanish, too. The only difference between "year" and the above-referenced word is the 'tilde' over the 'n'.

I might add that this is one of the problems associated with knowing how to read and write. Languages depend on what are called phonemes - the minimal difference in sound that distinguishes two words. (pit, bit, sit) Written forms can and do throw things into a cocked hat.

I would blame the spell checker, but in those days there were no computers! To add insult to injury he was a medical student so he could have expected the school admin to know the difference between their anus and their annum.
