I had some time just to myself, so I went around, had a few beers, and took some
photos.

Based on this i can fully recommend the country in general and the capital Santo Domingo in particular for street shooting. Locals are super friendly and don't give a damn where you point your camera.

Sure, in some areas you have to look after your gear, but that just adds to the experience :)

The purpose was to try the Cinestill color films. I didn't have the 85 filter with me, so I had to play with the 800 tungsten daylight shots in post a bit. Not quite sure how that worked out. Also, I had in the camera half a roll of Rollei Retro from the last gig, thus one shot is in B&W.

I used the Bessa R2a and the 50/2 Heliar classic, should you be interested.

So this is what I got. Comments and criticism welcomed, of course.

Yeah, it really is quite lovely. I'm not sure, I have only visited Cuba, but they tell me that the Dominican Republic can be considered as "genuine" Caribbian. You know, in contrast to, say, the Bahamas.

I don't have a hard time believing that.

Plus there seems to be a genuine interest towards street level arts there. Murals and street painters are everywhere, many of them from Haiti as far as I understood. Loads of small art galleries as well, especielly in Santo Domingo.

Nice! Santo Domingo was one of my first work trips back in 2002. Didn't even own any camera then. Always wanted to see it again. Someday

Thank you guys for the nice comments!

While there I felt like a chump for not speaking Spanish and not dancing Bachata. Before going back, I'm planning to take lessons in both.

This way I don't again have to all the time be like "Sorry ladies, I only do Western disco" :)

Here is still a few more -- just to finish the set and to move on. Next month I'll be in Albania, for the first time there as well. Any tips are more than welcome!
