Anyone had any issues with Don? I have to tell you, he's really irritating me on a very minor customer service thing right now.

Yeah, it's along those lines.
I ordered an extra M-spool from Don a couple of weeks ago. He took my CC, but didn't send me a total or tell me he'd shipped it. Eventually, my package arrived: no M-spool, but a hood for a 90 Elmarit. Emails and fax to Don go unreturned, but a message sent from another email address under another name enquiring about an M6 TTL he has for sale is answered promptly. Additionally, there's a US$10 charge for shipping added to the total, for a package that cost him US$1.10 to mail to me.
If he hasn't straightened this out completely by the end of tomorrow I'm getting my CC company to process a chargeback. It really bugs me when a guy won't promptly fix a problem he's caused. What does he think, ignoring me will make everything fine?

Now... the Leica body I got from him turned out to be defective. I called him and he told me to send it to Don Goldberg, in DAG. I did, and DAG billed Chatterton; however, the problem didn't disappear and I sent the camera again to DAG, and came back the same, so I...
To make a long story short, DAG couldn't fix it, and I'll eventually send the camera to Dan Elwell, in Leica NJ, to have it refurbished. Right now, ever since its last visit to WI, my camera has produced only one bad exposure. Go figure!!
A final note: the last time I spoke to Don Chatterton about the camera, he offered to buy it back from me (the warranty had expired, this was after the second visit to DAG). Now... I never took up his word on that one because I had grown attached to the camera. Am I weird? Probably... but lucky too!
merciful, the best thing you can do is call Don early in the morning. I believe you're on the Eastern area, so call him at YOUR 8 AM. It'll be his 5 or 6 AM... and he'll answer the phone for sure! Again, best wishes and good luck!!
