Don McCullin: Shaped by War

This isn't a guy I'm familiar with but there is a retrospective of his work in Manchester, UK and this slideshow on the BBC website, some extremely powerful images. Posting here because he talks in the slideshow of what it means to him to be/have been a war photographer.

Both were in somewhat the same situations, both Brits, but different senses of vision.

Burrows, however, did not get the chance to grow old.

Don McCullin is one of my very favorites. Maybe the albino child stared at him and came to hold his hand because Don had light skin like the child's? I know I'll always remember that child ever since I saw that picture years ago. You should go to the show!

I saw a show of his work at the IWMN last year.
I presume this latest show is a little different.

Living close to Manchester, I may organise a little RFF trip out to it if people fancy having a look and a chat.

Went to the exhibit on the opening day. Really nicely put together. Had a free tour round it with the curator. Interesting stuff and beautiful prints. well worth the trip.
