To date I've made front and back caps for my Jupiter 50, front and backcaps for my Nikkor 85, and thanks to Biggles, I just finished a body cap for my S3.
And if anyone wants the specs on any of these, please let me know and I'll tell you how and with what.
My next project? To put an "Apollo" F /F2 film advance lever plastic tip on my S3.

I've never made a grip for either a Leica or Canon because of the rash I develop when I touch their stuff, but after making my own handstraps including the baseplates for an F2 and an FA, fabricating my own quick-release plates from aluminum, customizing memo-holders for my F and making my own adapter to attach my RRS tripod mount quick-release plate grip jaws to a hex-plate base, how hard could it be?
You could probably make one from hardwood, if you are handy enough to not poke out your eye with a screwdriver when you pick it up.

I don't have an Apollo F lever, so I spoke to Sover Wong who told me how to remove the plastic tip from an F2 film advance lever, And except for the small "step" on my S3's hollow advance lever the F2's plastic tip does indeed fit. What I have to do is cut a corresponding space in the slot in the underside of the tip to accomodate the step, which will be easy to do with a dremmel, and it will work just fine.
I suppose it would be easier just to use an Apollo F film advance lever, but I'd first have to determine whether my S3 has the slip-on or screw-down type lever, and then get my hands on the corresponding F lever.
I don't have the foggiest notion how common or rare these levers are, and what one would cost. While this seems a simpler solution. if all else fails, I'll just do what I did on my F; make a tinfoil mould of an F2 plastic tip, and then cast the tip right onto the S3 lever, sand it and shoot it with black enamel.
Works like a champ and if anyone cared to look, they wouldn't know th difference.

I got tired of waiting for someone to tell me if they had a slip-on "Apollo" type F film advance lever for sale and how much they wanted, so I took the plastic tip from an F2 lever, enlarged and deepened one end of the channel on the underside, and married it my S3 lever with Locktite adhesive.
Voila. An Apollo S3. Done and done.
Next project? A Canon 600 f4 ED telephoto using a sonotube and the bottom of Coke bottles for lens elements.
Like those folks would know the difference.
