I hereby submit that "Done" is done. Yes, this is yet another thread on being done, doneness, etc., but what the heck!

Joe's poll on 'done'ness seems to indicate that there is no such thing as RF done-ness ... the poll completed at 80% No vote.

And FrankS, whose pagan side has overcome his Buddhist serenity with what he has, could be perceived the last bastion of doneness, so where does that leave us?

I, however, am done. 😀 In fact I am working at selling off excess gear to pare down to my fighting weight. Does that mean I have to leave RFF? 😱

How can you be done with no contax G gear?
Oh you must be just talking about being done with manual focus stuff..
My bad.. cause you gots to have the G..
I mean just a non-green lable G1 from keh on sale for around 150 bucks for the 'bleed' type (the film counter uses a teeny lcd whose edges turn a little black).
Just to see what all the hubub is about that 45 planar..
oh and if you see a good deal on a 28 biogon, you'll want to grab that up, along with a 90- just to make shipping a better bargain.
That biogon is kinda slow at 2.8, and you're gonna want a faster wide, so look around for the 35 planar.
Oop, the 35 planar won't work unless you send the G1 in for the 45 dollar upgrade (tocad) to the rom..
WHo knows how long that's gonna take! Better pick up another body just in case..

(the above is based on a true story- some of the order of aquisition has been changed)

Hope not, Earl!
Personally, I find true "doneness" to be...rare...
Ahem. Sorry.

I was thinking what he really needed was a Pimped Fed 2 (yes, I happen to be selling one right now on the classifieds)?!?!?!?????

I look at this a journey, some times you are going up the hill (acquiring) and some times you are going down (sell off treasures).

What’s important is that we leave the people we meet along the way in a better place (read and keep the wife from cutting off our heads!).

OOOOHHHHHHMMMMMMMMM……

Not to be heretical, but I am thinking about the new Olympus E-510 (if I could get it body-only) with MF-1 adapter... the latter to not have to deal with zoom lenses.

So technically I wouldn't be done and could stay on RFF?

Oh, and a confession on the upcoming gear sale ... it's to fund a film scanner. Scanners don't count against doneness!

The only possible RF un-donness in my future is some sort of M body (prolly M5 to keep up with the Frank and Wayne crowd) and 2 or three lenses. But this would be only because my Oly 35SPs aren't LTM or M mount. I lack only for a wide (28mm) and maybe short tele (75mm) lens on the SP. Oh wait ... I need 2 bodies loaded w/ b&w (slow and fast), and 2 loaded with colour (neg and chrome) ... drat. I guess I'm like everyone else. :bang:

I submit that we will never be DONE with rangefinders as long as there are manufacturers around to sell their wares to the gullible public (that's US).

"Done" is the past participle of "do" , and in grammar, the past participle denotes an action that, AT THE MOMENT OF SPEAKING, or at the moment OF WHICH we are speaking (the so-called "perfect" tenses), is finished, accomplished, in other words, DONE. That is not likely to happen with rangefinders or with RFF, but most money will be on the RFs.

I'm done. BTW what's for sale?

Earl,

You should also consider the E410 - I have the E400 and its about the same size as the OM1 - its a very well put together camera and good to ISO 1600 - the 410 adds some improvements (live view - not sure that's an improvement). Of course, the 510 adds IS. Stick a new Sigma 24 1.8 or 30 1.4 (if you can find one) and you'll have a decent low light kit (BTW the E400 is quite quiet). However, you won't be "done" - there's the new Leica 25 1.4 in 4/3 fit to aspire to, then there'll be the E1 successor, then there'll be used M8s at knock down prices ................

Gid: I gravitated to the 510 because of the IS. I'm disappointed neither of the new E-Volt bodies have the articulated screen, nor do they have user-replaceable focusing screens ... at least I dont' think so.

The Leica 25 is VERY attractive, but not in my financial circles! Used M8? No way! I'd have to leave RFF if I owned that, I could not stand entering any M8 posts and suffering the slings and arrows those always seem to generate!

Wayne: How's Mrs. Wayne with that ...? 😛

If you don't tell. She hasn't figured out that Bubba is another M5 yet. 😉
