Don't buy an LX3 from me

I took a major fall into a river full of spawning salmon this past weekend. I hurt my back, my leg, my shoulder, my wrist, my camera, and my pride. :bang:

My camera went under, in it's half case, for about half a second. I raised it up very fast. It was on when it went under and was on when I pulled it up. I immediately pulled the battery and memory card, both dry and no water at all in their compartments. The lens also had the extension tube and polarizer filter so there was also no water on the lens or lens barrel.

There was very little water on the camera except on the only two exposed parts, the LCD and the top, the rest was covered. After drying all the exposed surfaces the camera stopped working. I set it under a 40 watt lamp for two days and now it works like champ, every function works perfectly. Wonder if I should send it in anyway?

just keep using it. My lens tester, AKA Sam, my youngest son decided to play on his PSP in the downstairs loo because it was darker and quiet in there. Surprise surprise it ended up in the pan completely submersed for atleast a minute whilst my wife fished it out. Took the game and memory card out and put it on the top of the boiler for a weekend and it worked fine and has done for over 18 months now. Some electronics are quite resilient to water!

Whew! It's "better" that it was fresh water. Gorgeous shot, btw (considering the poor salmon and the price you paid in pain and pride).

Thanks guys, that dead salmon was it's last until I brought it back from the dead. I had decided that if it hadn't come back I would sell all the accessories that it took a year to find and tell my wife I need the new Panasonic micro 4/3s

Omg, you can bring fish back from dead!!! Can you do it with humans too, I really need to ask a few things of my grand-grand dad :angel:

That's the salmon shocked by the Leica lens on the Panasonic. It had only heard rumors of the mythical Leica glow.... before moving on into the bright zone.

I've heard that in case of submerge of cell phone repair guys take them apart and clean contacts with cleaner (I imagine naphtha, though they most probably use dedicated solution). Otherwise contacts tend to oxidize rather fast and phone develops sporadic contact-caused issues.

Not a specialist, though sounds reasonable.

Chap accidentally dropped his ipod into sea water and after just dried it (you know how they are made - pain to open and need soldering iron to remove battery) - so will see over time what happens there.

At least you are lucky it were not salt water.

bad thing is I have a point and shoot nikon with an underwater housing. It would have been perfect to get a shot half in and half out of the spawning salmon.
