Anybody know way around paying $100-300 for a double cold shoe accessory? Thumbs-Up make a nice one for just under $200 and Voigtlander used to make one available on eBay for even more. Why should this be so expensive? Anybody have an old Thumbs-Up double-shoe they're selling? I just got a Leica MDa so I've got to load up on a viewfinder, rangefinder etc. Much thanks!

DAG sells double cold shoes for $80.00.
At that price I was thinking of building one by salvaging and recycling the hot shoes off junk cameras.

I had Blakes one from DAG for a little while before passing it on to another member.
Ive also had two of the Voigtlander's, they do make 3 different models with varying height to clear different camera's controls. Any of the 3 will work great on a Leica M.
Ive also made one from a bit of aluminum, an old steel shoe off a flashgun, and two easily purchased cold shoes. You can glue, screw, or tape the whole thing together.
It only needs to cost as much as you want to spend.
If you want a name brand unit, just be patient and wait for a good deal, I got both my voigtlander shoe's at the same time from a gent at a local swap meet (20$ each) and sold them cheaply at a very good profit when I was done. ( I think I sold the last one here for 99$ a year ago)

I got the Thumbs Up Thumbs Up CSEP-4 in Black on the Bay for $80, a real steal. It's new in the box but would LOVE to trade for the silver if anybody has one and wants to trade.

Of all the things that Chinese accessory makers have made (or knocked off), I'm surprised that metal double-shoe adapters have not been on the list.

As other's have stated, DAG's double cold shoe accessories are great. I have one myself and he was kind enough to through in a nice pouch to carry it in!
