Double Stroke to Single Stroke Conversion-Which parts are changed?

Well, the parts are all in one assembly holding the advancing lever shaft. The d.s. clutch was a alrge spiral spring contricitng the shaft backlash. The single stroke, which is current on all models now, is a click-click type, step by step, not infinite. The original used to become worn and loose its strenght resulting in the lever continuing to advance on a blocked shaft.

Now, before any one jumps into conclusions, the TWO stroke system was designed to allowed the winding of the camera when it hanging on its strap, something you can't do with the long single stroke since the strap is in the way. Very annoying indeed. As I said before: another early M3 refinement gone.

Hey, just because it is a single-stroke mechanism doesn't mean you can't use two shorter strokes to advance the film. I rarely wind on with one full stroke using my M2 as I much prefer just two quick strokes.
