Dp0 21mm F4

been thinking name, cannot get over with that 0. sounds like engineers were put deciding something that requires more imagination (am engineer btw :D )

That's quite logical naming scheme - lesser index means wider lens. I wonder how eq. 17mm DP would be called...negative numbers, anyone?

I would have been happy to see it as a Merrill. I've been asking for one of these all along.

Looking at the photo that is circulating, the lens protrudes way more than I'd like.

I'll be sorely tempted, but if it doesn't fit in the Ortlieb waterproof pocket attached to my pack (as would seem to be the case :bang: ), I'll have a reason to hold off.

I see in the same announcement that Sigma is also releasing a teleconverter for the DP3Q that will make it a 90efov.

Hmmm. Woulda been nice to make this available to DP3M owners, too, fer cryin' out loud!

It would have been nice, but maybe not so great for the current business.

I'd be really surprised if marketing research showed that the only way to make a sale is to lure customers of earlier iterations to buy into new features on later ones. Especially since it is an external, add-on feature. After all, what my post above indicates is a willingness to purchase something.

I get you, but my line of thinking was that it's hard to sell an accessory for something you no longer offer. Then again, it's done all the time.

Then again, I just saw the photo. That converter is big, too.

Sigma seem to be doing everything they can to make the Quattros lose any vestige of pocket-portability. Sheesh, with four of them in the stable now, why don't they just release a mirrorless body with a few excellent primes and perhaps a couple of zooms to throw on it?

Just saw the specs. The lens extends out of the body 50% longer than the DP3 Merrill. 126mm for the former vs 80.6mm for the latter (both measurements include the body). That's deeper than my Fuji X-Pro1 with 14 mounted, not to mention the 23 or 56 as well

If they don't end up releasing a fw update to account for af accuracy for the tele-adapter, I suspect all u may need is a step down adapter ring to use it on your dp3m.

How are they going to call one with a 24mm? A DP1.5?

Have been thinking along the same lines today. The body of a Canon M3 with the innards of a Merrill and those lenses to go with it. I'd love one.

I don't mind it being bigger.. 21 is my favorite wide. I may pick one up next year.. But I want to c the sd1m replacement first anyway before I decide.
