DP1M lens hood choices

I was never able to find a store that sold the official dp1m Len hood, so I ended up w/ a black metal third party. I did find the official one for the dp2m. I like the bayonet mount design and that it is like having a combination of the Nikon 40 pancake hood glued to a real hood, in the sense that unlike a normal hood, where the filter area would protrude, there is an inside smaller diameter hole which helps to minimize internal edge reflections from an attached filter (they left enough space to have a single filter screwed in and then the bayonet mount hood goes over).

So where are u going to get a sigma one from?

I don't use them often, but whe I do, I prefer to use the collapsible rubber kind on the DP Merrills.

Easy to add/remove filters and lens caps with the rubber ones, they are cheaper, and provide a smaller profile when collapsed. On the con side, they don't look as imposingly professional.

Lol.. I don't think the dp look professional period :p. one of the reasons I like them :D. It attracts no attention. Just a no-name weird looking p&s.

I agree totally
And is the reason I don't get the vented hoods on the new dp2Q at all

i got the official one on ebay, from japan. couldn't find it in the US at the time, don't know if that's still the case.

still, $30 for a piece of plastic without moving parts...oh well.
I know, someone did a lot of engineering to get it appearing on market, and probably plastic isn't cheapest poisonous fume expelling crap like in many kid toys.
