Hi

I just bought an eyeless DR, and consider matching it a goggle.
Is there something I should be aware of when shopping for them?

Thanks

Absolutely! There are earlier and later versions which are not interchangeable. The key to make the distinction is the design of the Leica logo. You can read all about it at CameraQuest.com.

There are two versions of eyes. The older ones have the Leitz logo with a frame, looks like a code of arms, the newer ones have the Leitz logo just written on it.

I have a very early DR (including enlargement numbers on focusing scale), and a newer one (red/black meter and feet focusing scalle), and a newer pair of eyes. They work fine on both lenses.

Roland.

Roland,

That's very interesting.

From CQ site:

"As pointed out to me by Marvin Moss, the ball bearing mount on the earlier lenses is larger than on the later lenses. This results in the earlier close up attachment with the Leitz condenser logo fitting on later lenses, but not vice versa. "

So you say that the newer set of eyes does fit the older lens?

They do on mine, Michael. Maybe the change that Stephen mentioned happened during the building of early lenses, don't know ....

In any case, you are more likely to find a more recent one at a good price anyways. And since your lens is quite young ....

Hi,
I have a Summicron-Nah (DR) from 1956 and four (4) googles.
Two new "Leitz" and two old with the "Leitz microscope condenser" logo.
All fits well on the lens.

(If you're in Europe, I could sell one google away)
