Driver for Konica/Minolta Scan Dual IV for iMac OS-X 10.6.2

Yay! I found the "permissions repair and did it, and now Vuescan ran my Epson 2450. I assume it will run my Scan Dual IV? So now they want to know if I want to buy the standard version for $39.95 or the pro version for $79.95. The pro version sounds tempting: RAW scans, color calibration, color spaces. (The Apple guy told me my iMAc screen is calibrated to Kodak standards. Whatever that means. Should I monkey with it?) Has anyone found the pro version to be worth it? Comes with lifetime updates, etc.

I wouldn't assume anything. I would make sure it runs your Scan Dual (Dual Scan?) IV before spending $. If I remember correctly, the Vuescan download should work pretty normally except for putting a watermark on the file.

It may sound crazy, but I believe the best way to run an old scanner is to dedicate an old computer with the proper OS for the last version of the software. I'm running my Coolscan III on an old XP box. Which is networked with my Mac Mini.

Well I did try it. It doesn't work, but I suspect a problem with the Scan Dual. I will take the Scan Dual to the office any try it on my ancient Windows 98 Compaq (which still works!).

Thanks for tonight's help, all. Tomorrow maybe I'll ask for help on why I get some weird "personal information" error when I installed a copy of PSE 3. But not now. I'm quite done up for one day, and I don't want to wear out my welcome, either!

Rob: Great! Try it with the Minolta scanner. If it's working with the Epson, it should work with that one, too, but make sure it works before forking over the cash.

I've been using the Pro version for years, and for me, it's worth it.

I replied much earlier and I should have added that I use Vuescan with Snow Leopard with a Dual Scan IV. It works great. I suspect the reason it is asking you for a printer is that you have the option for auto print after scanning selected. I bought the pro version primarily for the free upgrades for life. It's paid for itself several times especially when I switched to Mac ealier this year. I now run both my Dual Scan IV and my really old Epsen (1650?) with it.

Since I have a Mac Mini on the way, I gave the Scan Dual IV another try, using VueScan Pro on my MacBook 13.3" with OSX 10.5.8.

Did the disk permissions repair thingy, still to no avail. VueScan runs the first strip of negatives ONLY when I leave it to handle everything by itself and freezes up if I do not.

I have to shut down VueScan AND the scanner and reboot the whole shabang before scanning another strip of 6 frames, everytime. Even then, it sometimes freezes up trying to focus the first frame. VueScan hangs at 39% focusing. If I focus manually, it freezes up on the second frame.

The 10.4 driver file wouldn't even expand in Stuffit.

I've haddit. I might put up the M-Hex 50/1.2 for sale to fund a Nikon 5000 and a large screen to hook up to the Mac Mini.

I have installed the Minolta software at least three times before, but this installer looks a wee bit different from the others I saw. Currently, the scanner is performing better than it ever did, even on XP.

The idea to purchase VueScan was only because the Minolta software kept fracking up on my MacBook. Meanwhile, VueScan is the dedicated software to get my Epson GT9600 into gear for 6x9 scans, and performs brilliant there (SCSI scanner on XP).

I don't get it, but I sure am going to scan a lot of negatives today, since stuff started to pile up...
