I've had an RD-1 on loan over the weekend and was pretty impressed, other than messing up the focal length of all my lenses. I've noticed on the shots taken, that there are a number of missing pixels appearing on each frame. Is this something that can be sorted in camera or is it a terminal problem?

Are they missing pixels or dust specks? Can you post an example?

If they are missing pixels the camera is faulty, probably a sensor problem.

Appear to be missing as, they are leaving a perfect white whole, I'm assuming dust would appear as a more random shape. These are pixel shaped if that makes sense. the camera is due back tomorrow when I either buy it or walk away

Indeed. Try the dead pixel mapping functionality in the v2 firmware. If this fixes them, and they were the only problem with the camera, you may have found a nice camera for yourself.

Thanks for evryone's help. I've come to the conclusion that I'd have to buy the camera and then a wide lens just to keep a good spread of langes in my bag. All starts adding up. May just buy a film scanner and enjoy the lenses I've got just as they were intended to be used

Depends on what's already in your bag?

If you have a 50mm, that gives you ~75mm...
a 35mm > ~50mm...
a 28mm > ~40mm...

If you have a 21mm you have ~35mm (you need an accessory finder - not a biggie). Or, if you don't have a 21mm, the CV 21mm f/4 lens is very good optically and an exceptional bargain on the bang-for-a-buck scale.

If you buy the affordable CV 15mm, you can cover the 21mm range.

So, additional lens expense might not necessarily be too bad...
