What's a good price fer one 'o these babys? Are they still being made? I have the opportunity to buy and am wondering. Also, I'm assuming I cannot use my favorite cheapo, un-professional palstic adjustable reels in these things?

If you can get one for under a hundred, that'd be a find in my books. Make sure the filter is intact. if you've never used one, they dry film like nobody's business.

Make sure you have a decent wall/ stud to anchor to, they're a few pounds.

Aren't po' folks supposed to make their own out of a hairdryer and some PVC pipe? I read an article like that in a magazine a few years ago. Looked both feasible and cheap, but I never got to it because film dries fast enough for me on its own.
Just a thought.

For guerilla hotel processing, the hair dryer and flex dryer vent piping works well. If it's for a home darkroom, the Senrac is more convenient as it also has a timer so you're not blowing air longer than necessary.

Just a bit noisy is all.
