-doomed-
film is exciting
I do exude a weird sense of elitism on how intelligent I am! - by design! Why, if I had a nickle for everytime I've been told exactly that, I'd buy me an M9. Oh - wait, wait, I can't - that whole anti-consumerism thing. (snap) lost myself for a second there.
As for the rest of your comments, I qoute the immortal Joel Hodgson. "It's only a RFF thread, maybe you should just relax..."
Your fantastic sense for typos is amazing.
I'm quite relaxed -- if I were anymore relaxed, I'd be dead. You're just a broken record on here. I mean it's mostly enjoyable, but after a while doesn't it get old? (I wouldn't reply or play into this if it wasn't)
On top of that you wouldn't buy an M9 you're too busy extolling the virtues of the Nikon's exciting range of digital products. Don't lie to me.
Merry Christmas. ( Nothing is ever really that serious on the internet anyway.)
Realistically though, you should call Nikon and ask for a check, perhaps send them a W-9 and demand to be paid on a freelance advertiser basis. Maybe you could establish a barter system with them where they send you lenses and other items to test and then advertise on RFF.

This is a pointless exercise. At best a juvenile attempt to spite people. At worst, a silly back slapping attempt between people who don't like a particular system.
Quite frankly, it's a waste of bytes. Oh you can say all and that, but it still remains that the thread is pointless and juvenile.
Find something better to do instead of stirring the pot on purpose.

Well-known
My new-to-me Panasonic G1 is smaller and lighter than my Pentax K10D , and my Leica Digilux 3 [ 4/rds ] I tend to view it as an alternative to a Canon G11 at less money [ ex-dem ] and a heck of a lot more flexible .
I bought the used Dig 3 for it's traditional interface AND to use my Rokkors ... the K10D to use manual Pentax lenses and the G1 to use my Summitar / Elmar and Soviet 50mm lenses .
I even have a Contax RF adapter for the once-in-a-lifetime-inheriance-mad-purchase M8 .
Why all this ?
BECAUSE I CAN and it's fun . I thought that amateur photography is supposed to be an enjoyable experience - otherwise why bother ?
Sometimes I think many get more fun from a camera phone than all proper camera owners !

Canon Corp.
For Immediate Release
In order to improve shrinking margins in our Digital Single Lens Reflex Division
Canon will be removing the mirror assembly in all future cameras. Camera users will have to rely on slower contrast focus. For those who prefer to frame through a viewfinder, we will be offering that on some models as a separate after market purchase. In addition to removing the mirror, we will no longer be offering a built-in flash. And Canon will be considerably shrinking the sensor size. These steps are necessary to keep prices competitive in the marketplace. One benefit to the end-user, however, is that camera bodies will be slightly smaller due to the loss of these features. Canon Corporation hopes to continue to server your photographic needs.

Could you even imagine Canon coming out with such a press release?
Because above = 4/3, the "APS-C" of the digital age... Only APSC cameras didn't cheat on features, and they cost less.
Hey, JB - let's don't put out that press release! Let's give these cameras a "name"! - make them be a new kind of system. Talk to the designers - give them a retro look!

Its all about the image..
I just got an E-PL1 as my first "serious" foray into digital, having hit the wall with compact P&S and longing to be able to get quality digital images from my old olympus glass.
Compared to film, it is a revelation. The low light capability is so much better than high speed color print film.
Lacking a viewfinder seems no obstacle in the lower light conditions I like taking photographs. (usually when the sun's out, the camera gets put away) The screen visibility from all angles makes it faster to use than a swivel screen when I need a vantage point higher or lower than my eye can get to a viewfinder.
The flash that I really don't want at all can be used in bounce mode with the help of a finger on the flash frame - an unexpected surprise.
The only things I still want:
a. a smaller camera body
b. environmental (dust, sand, water) protection
c. wider apertures
d. viewfinder
If I really want to compare a DLSR with a M4/3, it would be a Nikon D3100 vs E-PL1 + VF-2.
My cousin wants a P&S camera without a protruding lens, with a long zoom range, that shoots in little light and takes stunning pictures. I think she'll be waiting for a while...

Oh, but we can expect Nikon to do so. Rumors of a mirrorless system from Nikon have been going strong over the past year.[SNARK]

And pshaw. The GH2 has more video capabilities than any APS-C camera. Go figure.

Look - what can I tellya. I think 4/3 systems are silly, regardless who manufactures them. I have no allegiance to any camera brand - having owned either a body or a lens from nearly all of them. In every conceivable way, the camera manufacturers cut corners, significantly. Lopping off features, cutting sensor size - while at the same time keeping the price of the body the same as more full-featured DSLRS. The only difference is they're a bit smaller than compact DSLRs - but not significantly enough matter, really.
Rather that a "press release" like above, they just gave these crippled cameras a "brand", made them a new "system" and gave them a retro design... Suddenly all the cool kids on the block had to have one.
Amateur photogs - really... Get sucked into that whole gear thing. - Now software too. Some of it is downright funny. 4/3'rds cameras and "digital negative" processing software being comical to me.
I'm just having fun with it.
