DSLRexchange.com

I have tried to register with a couple usernames and it keeps saying my email addresses have been banned? And then it says click here to contact administrator but there is no link?

One of the email addresses I created only a few weeks ago

the weird thing is I have never even registered with that forum before

so, dslr has gone over to film slr cams and it seems so have i!

i just bought an olympus om1 with a cheap zoom lens attached to it and just started posting on dslr as well.

years ago i had some oly gear, om1 and 2, 24/35/100 prime lenses and 35 to 70 & 75 to 150 zooms too.
it was a great system, small, light and pretty good glass.

i'm thinking i will get one good prime lens for this one and make it my beater cam.

any suggestions for lens choice or, better still, anyone have a good oly prime lens for sale, cheap??

joe

Nice, Joe. The 50/2 macro would be my choice for one lens, and there's one at KEH for a good price. A 50/1.8 would be more compact, and is also pretty good, esp at $19. I guess prices have gone up. Used to be $6.

Joe: I have a good condition (but I'll have to take a close look for an accurate description) 50/1.8 MC. This is not the miJ (made in Japan) last version, rather the version just before the miJ. IOW, it's a very good 50, and in practical use you're hard-pressed to see the difference.

I may also have an extra 35/2.8 hanging around, I'll check. FWIW, I used to shoot the OM-35/2.8 combo as my standard kit; the 35 was practically glued to the body and it was as close to an RF street shooter as I've experienced in an SLR.

Give me a day or so and I'll PM you if you're still interested.

earl,

check out my sig line, alot has happened while you were away!!

in a matter of hours i picked up 5 lenses and that doesn't include the 28-210 that will be coming with the om1 body.

but thanks anyway!!

I know a lot of you guys shoot digital as well. I am just wondering how come no one is ever at the sister site.

I just got an irresistable deal on a D50 from a friend who upgraded to the D80. I love the bargains you get on digital equipment that's only months old. Anyway, with my shooting style, I have paired it up with a 24/50 for a 35/75 combo.

Sure would like to shoot the breeze with the same people on this site.

I've got enough trouble trying to keep up with this site, the wedding forum, my livejournal, the Toronto Photography MeetUp Group, etc. etc. etc.

The last thing I need is to add another site to that list 😛

reading/chatting/discussing on forums could easily become a full time job.. which is something I already have 😀

I don't always look at sig lines ... Yikes!!! Now you have lots more OM lenses to "research" ...

I have a silvernose 50/1.8, the MC 50/1.8, the miJ 50/1.8, a mid-range SN 50/1.4 (want higher SN), a 21/f2 (maybe would like 21/3.5), a 28/3.5 & 28/2.8 (28/2.0 would be nice), a silvernose 35/2.8 (needs CLA), a later 35/2.8 (would like 35/2.0), a silvernose 100/2.8 (needs CLA), later 100/2.8 that needs filter ring straightened, (want 85/2 and 100/2.0), 300/4.5 (needs CLA, but don't want anything faster in the long segment), want 50 macro (both 3.5 & 2.0) .... and a Tokina 70-150/3.5 that is very sharp. Plus auto bellows, angle-finder, reverse adapter, M42 adapter, yadda, yadda.

Have fun, Joe!

my name is tom and i own a digital SLR! and i would love for dslrexchange.com to be more active. i know alot of you have one, where are you? i love this messageboard but need somewhere else to talk digital! i dont like many other boards, too much rudeness elsewhere, id love for dslrexchange to be the slr equivlent of this site, where i can get real answers to my questions, and feel equal to other members, and make new friends.

Hi Tom!

My name is Volker and I haven't used a SLR for two month now 🙂

But you're right, I should have a look there more often.

I am a member of both forums.

SLR's (without D) are welcome, but why 2 sites? Is a SLR a virus infecting the photocommunity?
When I see a nice picture, I never ask myself what gear was used. It is the contents that counts.
Indeed it is very quiet overthere. At several occasions I tried to activate the members by publishing some threads, responses are very low or 0. With statistics one could prove that worldwide only 5 people are using a RAW converter.
We need some digital alarm to wake-up the members.
On the other side some members are able to upload in notime >2000 shots.
For me this would mean years and years of hard work.

LET US CONCENTRATE ON AND ENJOY PHOTOGRAPHY

i like the idea of two forums, and being able to come here and not see a billion posts about when nikon will make a full frame dslr, and vr vs. is, etc.. maybe we should just talk dslrs in the off topic forum? or how about a general dslr forum here? i just want somewhere i can feel "safe" about saying i use one..
and why is it so quiet there? is it because we dont feel the same love for our dslrs as the old mechanical cameras we found wasting away and got them working again?
is it just less enjoyable to talk about new cameras than the classics? it is more exciting to get a hunk of metal home and shoot with it not fully knowing to what extent it actually works until you process the film out of it, but isnt anyone else fascinated with digital? theres so much to be explored!
