Dang it... the cool weather killed the battery in my camera right after the 15 minute set-up.
Should have had spares on hand.
Should have taken the M4.
Should have had a spare body... oh wait I did. Pocket digicam to the rescue

We've all been there -- When I was just getting started I shot a roll of film for my cousin's wedding, with great timing -- first kiss, walking down the aisle, etc. The next day I was surprised to find out it was a roll of 36... then I was surprised to find out that I got past 40 exposures... when I finally went to rewind the film I felt the horror of no tension. I had no film in my camera at all. I'll never live that one down. I was drunk the night before and thought I loaded more film in the camera because I shot a few frames on nothing.
Another time I did a family group shot on a tripod and missed focus... on all three attempts...
The only thing you can do is just keep shooting and learn from your mistakes.
