I can post photos to the gallery ok, but when I want to post to a tread my photos are all small thumb nails. They are not large like most of the posts. How do I make my pics larger in the posts?

Take a look at your photo you posted in the thread and then double-click on it and it should get bigger...
The photo will appear in a window by itself but it will be bigger...

Yes, but why do some pictures come across as thumbnails (that then can be resized) and others come across as larger photos that, in genera, don't have to be resized?l

Right-click on your photo and copy the url. Then, when you're writing your post, click on the image icon and paste the url. Hope this makes sense.

I have mixed results too. When I use the "manage attachments" link on this site the attachment (usually hosted at Flickr) always comes out as a clickable thumbnail - linked to a quite small main image -far smaller than the original on Flickr. The system seems to enforce a size limit. If the attachment is over a certain size I just get an error message. Whenever I try to embed the image URL directly in the text of the message this does not work either. Maybe its a size thing too. But I notice that some people successfully manage to do so - I do not understand how. I surmise this is K.Knox's issue too.

Hmmm,
I can't even get my profile picture to upload.
When I 'Browse' it finds it but says upload failed.
File is 4K and 96 x 96 pixels. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Steve.

Try this:
Post up the picture in Manage Attachments
Find its URL , something like:
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/fo....&d=56789...

Copy the URL
Click on the image button in the Editor
After that, you must paste it inside the image Edit box
Then click OK.

If the image is located at Flickr, right click on the image
Select Properties - and the URL will show. Copy that URL with the IMG tags
Preview your post to be sure the photo is there
Click Submit.

This has worked for me in the past (in Words/No Words threads), these instruction were posted here by another RFF member. Hope it helps
