dumb question re luigi half case

ok, i feel a bit doh! asking this but i think i may be missing something here.

i recently got a luigi camera strap, a longer one, so i could try out a camera without a wrist strap.
it works better than i could have hoped for and for once my belly is not in the way.

this morning i thought i'd put the half case to use along with the new strap.
the strap has those small protective leather pieces on the ends to keep the camera from getting all scratched.
these small tabs seem to be in the way of snapping the case ends over the strap.
i searched out a few pics here and on luigi's site and they all have straps w/o the small protective tabs.

so the question is, if i want to use the strap with the half case do i have to cut those tabs off? i don't really want to do that because i don't use the half case all of the time.

am i missing something?

Well, I just made a special trip upstairs to look at my M3 just for you.

To my surprise, my strap does not have those protective leather thingys, so I can't help you. The case straps won't stretch around the padded lugs to fit?

the protective tabs are a good size and get in the way.
one case tab will snap but not both, and it's a good tug to get the one to snap.

Can you take the strap off the camera, put the case on, then put the strap on to the lugs? I have a half-case on my Bessa R2, and the little straps wrap around the lugs. Then I have a Voigtlander strap with the protective leather tabs attached to the lugs. Maybe my half-case has thinner straps, I'm having trouble picturing the problem.

fraley, it worked! sort of...

i didn't have to take the strap off i just needed to get the protective tabs on the outside of the case.
so simple.

the leather likely needs to stretch a bit with age and it will fit easier each time i take off/put on the half case.
